Well, let's see. We did a great deal of driving for Thanksgiving. It was good to be with PJ's extended family...and good for me to get out of town. And especially good that PJ can put up with my constant complaining about the long hours in the car. I need a helicopter. Of course, if we had been in a helicopter, I would not have been able to make PJ stop at every Dollar Tree in every town between here and Chipley, Florida.
One thing I always enjoy is talking to my sister after she has attended a family function without me. Her take on the whole thing is typically quite funny and it seems that strange things tend to happen when I'm not around. Take this year's Thanksgiving at my mom's, for instance. Apparently our sister-in-law told my sister that she and my brother will not be playing Santa with Banana. Now, keep in mind, all of this is 2nd hand - I was not there - but I'm pretty sure they (my brother and his wife) have decided that they don't want to tell Banana there is a Santa Claus. I haven't talked to them about it, and I probably won't since it's really none of my business, but I have to point out that my brother had to have been crazier about Santa than any kid ever has been. Seriously - I've never seen a child so excited to get up on Christmas morning and see what Santa had left. Those mornings are probably my fondest memories of him. So, I was really looking forward to seeing Banana in that mode, and the fact that my brother would make a decision such as this one is odd to me. The reasons our SIL gave my sister for this complete withholding of all childhood joy don't really add up. I mean, I could think of better reasons if pressed. But, as I said...it's none of my business...if they want to be clearly ridiculous and insane - far be it from me to stop them. Good grief.
OK, where are the Hershey mint kisses this year? Not the mint truffle ones - I have those. But, where are the regular mint kisses that are wrapped in green and silver checked foil? I just emailed Hershey, so I will let you know what I find out. I don't think Hershey wants to mess with me on this.
Speaking of mint...my secret sis sent me a great package last week that included a super cute bottle of MINT M&M's. OK. Why have I never had these? And why can't I find them now? Ever since I scarfed down that bottle, I've been looking for them to no avail. (And believe me, I've looked at a whole lot of stores.) Check out this cute box of goodies she sent me, though...funky file folders, post-it notes, giant gem clips. So fun! OH! and she included PENCILS! 0.7mm mechanical pencils. Yes! And notice that I had already consumed a huge portion of the mint M&M's before I could get my camera out.
I made a button tree last week. I thought I might give it as a gift, but it looks too good in our bedroom to give it up.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I've planned a day of hanging out with Bobbie Jo. I'm so glad I'm not working tomorrow. I'm positive I can't take turning 44 there. I can't think about going back yet. My break has spoiled me. So, anyway...Bobbie Jo and I will be eating lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant, and I'm not sure what else...just chillin'. The way birthdays are meant to be.
News flash - we hung pictures today. It's starting to look more like a home than a storage unit around here.
I LOVE your button tree. Very inspiring - I think I'll do some for my bedroom :)
Oh, and your calendar stamp is at my house..... I'll drop it off at the store next time I go (sometime this week) and I'll let you know as soon as I do.
