For some reason there was a power outage that affected about half of campus on Friday. (Unfortunately, the building I work in was unaffected, so we remained open and completely slammed for the entire day.) However, a very large women's dorm was without power for most of the day and well into the night. Late in the afternoon I went upstairs to get coffee and witnessed the largest crowd of pissed off prissy girls I have ever seen - all packed into one tiny Starbucks. Each one was dealing with the crisis at hand in the same way - on her cell phone. Just one side of one of the conversations I overheard:
Mom, you don't understand. There is a PLEDGE PARTY tonight.
It is completely dark in there. How will I do that?
Right. Mom, you are not getting it. The power is OFF. As in there is no electricity. Do you want me to take a picture of myself and send it to you so you will believe me?
A flashlight? Mom, I'm talking I can't even use my hairdryer! Listen to me!
Oh to be 19 again...
oh that's too funny! poor things. lol!
